| Tutoring Approach: | With new students that are struggling at maths, I like to focus on getting them up to the standard level of maths for their age as well as teach them the new material. For stronger maths students we will improve your problem solving techniques as well as tackling the tougher problems to gain a strong fundamental knowledge of the material. I like to teach students to have a solid understanding of the theory being studied rather than just a method to solving the problems. My tutoring sessions are specific to the student but most consist of a combination of - a quick summary of material that has been covered - answering queries about the material - exam preparation - assignment discussion and review - demonstrating sample solutions to problems - watching students work through problems and providing feedback whilst they are working - watching students work through problems and providing feedback when they are finished. My sessions are usually between 1 and 2 hours but I find the best length for tutoring sessions is 1.5 hours. |
